God, Our Teacher

Homily for Friday of the Second Week in Advent

(In order to accommodate the schedule, the homily was simply an introduction to a short time of quiet prayer.)

Isaiah refers to God as a teacher today. Many of us can identify with this image since we spent time as classroom teachers. Just as any teacher would do, God has given us all that we need to succeed. All we need to do is to be diligent in studying the will of God as expressed in the Scriptures. The Bible is our textbook; the table of contents is our syllabus. Let us take a few moments to consider the lesson that we may have been afraid to learn.
