Homilies

Daily Thought From The Saints

“For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward Heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and Joy.”

— St. Therese Of Lisieux

Daily Scripture Verse

“Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ‘why could we not cast it out?‘ He said to them, ‘because of your Little Faith. For truly I tell you, if you have Faith the size of a mustard seed, you Will say to this Mountain, “and it Will move; and nothing Will be impossible for you. “'"

Matthew 17:20

Daily Meditation

“Prayer is greatly aided by fasting and watching and every kind of bodily chastisement. In this regard each of you must do what you can. Thus the weaker Will not hold back the stronger, and the stronger Will not press the weaker. You owe your conscience to God. But to no one else do you owe anything more except that you love one another.”

— St. Augustine

Daily Catholic Wisdom

As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.

—St. Pope John Paul II

A Prayer from Notre Dame University

Rev. Joseph Corpora, C.S.C.

“Follow me.” Lord, you spoke two simple words and they changed Matthew’s life forever. You speak those same words to each one of us: “Follow me.” Our response changes our lives forever. Thank you for inviting us to follow you. Like Matthew, the tax collector, help us know our own “sickness” and thus our great need for you. Help us to know our need for your mercy which you give to us freely and without reservation. We pray this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Ephesians 4:1

Reading

He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things to completion.

Meditation

The Son of God descended among us, even into suffering and death, by taking our human nature to Himself. Now in that same human nature, He has ascended above the heavens to the right hand of God. And filled with the glorious power of God, Jesus’ humanity is now the source of fulfillment for us. The humanity of Christ, approached in faith, bestows on us the graces that heal us and that elevate us to where He is, at the right hand of the Majesty.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, seated at the right hand of the Father, may I turn to You  above the heavens, to be saved from my sins and raised up in You to the Father. In Your Holy Name I pray. Amen.
