The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross
O God, who will that your Only Begotten Son should undergo the Cross to save the human race, Grant, we pray, that we, who have known his ministry on earth, may merit the grace of his redemption in heaven. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
Daily Thought from The Saints
"You can do more with the grace of God than you think.”
— St. John Baptist De La Salle
Daily Scripture Verse
"We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28
Daily Meditation
"The church has been uniting her praises to those which the Angels and her own elect children have been giving to God in heaven. In this way, she already begins to do, here below, what is destined to occupy her for all eternity. United to the praises of the Man-God, this praise, the prayer of the church, becomes Divine; and the liturgy of the Earth becomes one with that of the celestial hierarchies in the Court of Christ, echoing that everlasting praise which Springs forth from the Furnace of infinite love which is the most holy Trinity.”
— Dom Jean-Baptist Chautard
Day by Day with Mary
When she was asked to become the mother of the Messiah, Mary’s faith enabled her to give a humble and generous response… Mary’s faith was frequently tested during the public life of Jesus, especially when she witnessed the rejection of her Son. After the foot of the cross, her pilgrimage of faith had its moment of most severe testing. Mary continued to believe that, because Jesus was the Son of God, his sacrifice would bring salvation to humanity.
Pope St. John Paul II
A Prayer from Notre Dame University
Rev. Andrew Gawrych, C.S.C.
Lord, we know that there is no failure your love cannot reverse, no humiliation you cannot exchange for blessing, no anger you cannot dissolve, no routine you cannot transfigure. All is swallowed up in the victory of your Son’s cross. You have nothing but gifts to offer. In picking up our daily crosses, help us to find how even the cross can be borne as a gift. Amen.
