Monday of the 30th week in ordinary Time

God our Father, you send the power of the Gospel into the world as a life-giving leaven. Fill with the Spirit of Christ those whom you call to live in the midst of the world and its concerns. Help them by their work on earth to build up your eternal kingdom. We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.

Daily Thought from the Saints

"When you have free moments, go faithfully to prayer. The good God Is waiting for you there."

— St. Julie Billiart

Daily Scripture Verse

"So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs."

Mark 16:19-20

Daily Meditation

"Many things happen that God does not will. But he still permits them, in his wisdom, and they remain a stumbling block or scandal to our minds. God asks us to do all we can to eliminate evil. But despite our efforts, there is always a whole set of circumstances which we can do nothing about, which are not necessarily willed by God but nevertheless are permitted by him, and which God invites us to consent to trustingly and peacefully, even if they make us suffer and cause us problems. We are not being asked to consent to evil, but to consent to the mysterious wisdom of God who permits evil. Our consent is not a compromise with evil but the expression of our trust that God is stronger leaven evil. This is a form of obedience that is painful but very fruitful."

— Fr. Jacques Philippe

Day by day with Mary, the Mother of God

Behold, the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done to me, as you say. It is as if she were saying I am a painter’s canvas: let the Almighty painter draw as he wishes and do as he pleases.

Blessed Alfonso de Orozco

A Prayer from Notre Dame University

Rev. Herb Yost, C.S.C.

Lord Jesus, we come before you, stooped and burdened with troubles, worries, and fears. We look to you for healing, for assistance, or at the very least for the hope that healing and help will come. Let nothing in our hearts stand in your way. Amen.
