Memorial of Pope St. John Paul II

O God, rich in mercy, who willed that St. John Paul II should preside over your universal Church, grant, we pray, that instructed by his teaching, we may confidently pen our hearts to the saving grace of Christ, the sole redeemer of the human race. He who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Daily Thought from the Saints

"Is it not a wonderful thing, that he that is the Lord and author of all liberty, would thus be bound with ropes and nailed hand and foot unto the Cross?"

— St. John Fisher

Daily Scripture Verse

"In fact, all who want to live religiously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. But wicked people and charlatans will go from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived. But you, remain faithful to what you have learned and believed, because you know from whom you learned it, and that from infancy you have known [the] sacred scriptures, which are capable of giving you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus."

2 Timothy 3:12-15

Daily Meditation

"We frequently need other people’s help to figure out what God wants of us. It is relatively easy to sort out what is bad from what is good, but it is much more difficult to sort out what is good from what is better and what is bad from what is worse. The Holy Spirit gives us the counsel we need through external and internal signs of grace."

— Rev. Jude Winkler

Day by Day with Mary, the Mother of God

The Holy Mother of God, the new Eve, Mother of the Church, continues in heaven to exercise her maternal role on behalf of the members of Christ.

Pope St. Paul VI

A Prayer from Notre Dame University

Rev. Herb Yost, C.S.C.

Taking you for granted, dear Father, is as dangerous as taking any of our important relationships for granted. There’s too much at stake, and Jesus has promised that there will be repercussions for those who are lackadaisical—not just towards you, but to everyone who depends on us. We are honored that you would entrust so much to us, yet we are aware of our weaknesses and fears. We need your help and that of your Spirit so that we can fulfill your needs and desires. Amen.
