Memorial of Pope St. John XXIII

Almighty ever living God, who in Pope St. John the 23rd have given a living example of Christ, the good Shepherd, to shine throughout the whole world, grant us, we pray, that through his intercession, we may joyfully pour out an abundance of Christian charity. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.

Daily Thought from the Saints

"Three things are necessary for the salvation of man: to know what he ought to believe; to know what he ought to desire; and to know what he ought to do."

— St. Thomas Aquinas

Daily Scripture Verse

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."

Psalm 91:1-2

Daily Meditation

"One of the most formidable obstacles to the conversion of a soul is the fact that God is a hidden God: Deus absconditus. But God, in His goodness, reveals Himself, in a certain manner, through His saints, and even through fervent souls. In this way, the supernatural filters through and becomes visible to the faithful, who are thus able to apprehend something of the mystery of God . . . make no mistake, there is a sort of instinct by which souls, without clearly defining what it is they sense, are aware of this radiation of the supernatural."

— Dom Jean-Baptist Chautard

Day by Day with Mary, the Mother of God

The title of Mary. As our mother is not merely symbolic. Mary is our mother. In the most real and lofty sense, a sense which surpasses that of earthly maternity. She begot our life of grace for us because she offered up her entire being, body and soul, as the mother of God.

St. Teresa Benedicta of the cross

A Prayer from Notre Dame University

Rev. Kajubi Henry Senteza, C.S.C.

Lord Jesus Christ, you chose to be born among us, and you became like us in every way but sin. As a merciful and faithful high priest, you make atonement for our sins. Help us to hear your word every day, and in listening to you, may we come to the knowledge of what is good and true. Stir your spirit within us to practice what we discern from your word. We ask this in your name. Amen.
