Laetare - Rejoice

A LENTEN MOMENT

Dark days lie ahead. Beginning tomorrow, Monday of the Fourth Week in Lent, the Gospel readings for the daily Mass will come from the Gospel of St. John. We will plunge headlong into the passion, crucifixion, death, and resurrection of the Lord. Consequently, on this Sunday the Church invites us to rejoice. Though the next three weeks will be sobering, the Church asks us to look forward to Easter Sunday – The Solemnity of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rejoice with Jerusalem; and be glad for her, all you that delight in her: exult and sing for joy with her, all you that in sadness mourn for her; that you may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations.
