Father Lawrence's Blog

O God, who have prepared for those who love you good things which no one can see, fill our hearts, we pray, with the warmth of your love, so that loving you in all things and above all things, we may attain your promises which surpass every desire. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.

Daily Thought from the Saints

"Preserve the warmth of the family, because the warmth of the whole world cannot make up for it."

— St. Charbel Makhlouf

Daily Scripture Verse

"O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand."

Psalm 95:6-7

Daily Meditation

"Reading the holy Scriptures confers two benefits. It trains the mind to understand them; it turns man’s attention from the follies of the world and leads him to the love of God. Two kinds of study are called for here. We must first learn how the Scriptures are to be understood, and then see how to expound them with profit and in a manner worthy of them . . . No one can understand holy Scripture without constant reading . . . The more you devote yourself to the study of the sacred utterances, the richer will be your understanding of them, just as the more the soil is tilled, the richer the harvest.”

— St. Isidore of Seville

Daily Catholic Wisdom

Rest is in Him alone. Man knows no peace in the world; but he has no disturbance when he is with God.

—St. Bernard of Clairvaux
Patron Saint of Bees

A Prayer from Notre Dame University

Members of the Holy Cross Novitiate

Father all-powerful, you sent the Holy Spirit into the world to set our hearts on fire. May the grace we receive through your Spirit help us to heal the divisions that separate us from our brothers and sisters. Help us to be zealous advocates of your undying love for humanity, so that all people will work to make you known, loved, and served. We make this prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
