What Have I Been Doing?

On April 9, I posted a blog that said that I was going to start a new underwriting my blog. It is now June 19, and I have only posted one blog since April. I should’ve known better. Easter was right around the corner as was Holy Week. In addition to the extra work of the liturgical season, some of the health issues that I have been dealing with have come to a head. Consequently, I’m not going to make any promises about how often I’m going to be able to do this, but I thought I should explain.

On February 8, I ended up in the hospital with a UTI. On my way to the hospital, I fell on the sidewalk face first. I sustained a nasty laceration on my forehead. That landed me in the emergency room. The doctor in the emergency room told me that I was also experiencing an elevated heart rate. Before all this happened, I had been seeing a doctor at the Pain Clinic in Joliet because of the loss of feeling in my right arm and hand. All of this meant that when I left the hospital, I had appointments to see a cardiac surgeon, a urologist, an epidemiologist, and my primary physician – doctors’ visits galore.

I am currently scheduled for a cardiac procedure called an ablation on July 1. This will be happening at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet. About three weeks after that, I will be undergoing a surgery to fuse to vertebrae in my neck (the date for that surgery is still pending). I cannot deny that I am somewhat anxious about the month of July. I ask that you keep me in your prayers. I will endeavor to keep you all posted as to the results.

This week the sisters of St. Francis Woods motherhouse will be on retreat. This means that I have a full week off. I have one doctor’s visit this week. However, the rest of the week will be mine to use as I wish. Obviously, I will also be off for the for first days of July, returning to my ministry at the motherhouse on July 5.

Given the problems in our world today, I realize that my health issues are really on a back burner. However, I do hope that you will keep me in your prayers.
